Description
Hand stitch this picture of Common Knapweed, inspired by a photograph I took last Autumn of the wildflower Common Knapweed growing next to a beach on Mull.
This design uses stem stitch, long & short stitch and straight stitch. The finished embroidery is 12.5cm x 12.5cm. I stitched the sample on linen with linen threads, but would work on other fabrics and threads.
You will need:
- fabric (e.g. cotton, linen, felt) minimum size 20cmx20cm
- thread (e.g. linen, crewel wool, stranded cotton, size 8 perle cotton)
- needle appropriate to fabric and thread (probably a crewel/embroidery needle)
- scissors
- embroidery hoop (optional)
The downloadable PDF comes with instructions, stitch diagrams and pattern (both colour and black&white versions of pattern).
